Mmm mmm mmm and then silence . . . and so began our dinner party . . . As well as the amazing contrasts of tastes, the colour combinations were fabulous on the plates . . . We ate and ate and enjoyed every mouthful, and when we could eat no more, there was still plenty of food . . . I found (Food for Thought) very accommodating and flexible, and their food speaks for itself . . . (we) felt we had been given serious value for our money.

Everyone agreed that the food was fantastic and that they all had more than their fill! The midnight snack table that you laid out was so tastefully done that it was almost a shame to tuck into the tasty nibbles. World class cooking. The finest ingredients. Inspired flavour combinations. Are we in a cooking school? Are we in a five star hotel? Are we in Italy … France? No, we are enjoying the cooking of Stephen Canty in the comforts of our own home in Schull, Ireland.

Stephen is one of the most talented chefs we have known. We include in our sample chefs working in Michelin-starred restaurants as well as those working for us at home. He takes special care to choose the absolutely finest and freshest ingredients. Then he combines these ingredients in ways that enhance their flavour. His sense of taste and texture is superb, as is his flare for presentation.

These qualities are enough to make us enthusiastic followers of Stephen Canty. However, his clear talent for cooking is enhanced further by his willingness to tailor his food for the needs of his clients. We prefer not to spend time giving detailed menu instructions, so we ask Stephen to choose the menu. He consistently delivers exactly what we like. Furthermore, he does not frown when we request additional, simpler meals for the children. All tasks are carried out with a smile.

We have enjoyed the magic of Stephen’s cooking for more than five years. The quality has gone from strength to strength over that time. This secret is just too good to keep.

Stephen Canty looked after two groups that I had sharing a week in the wonderful Birch House at Glengarriff.  One group was a two-family group, composing thirteen adults in all. The other, a group of businessmen on a management retreat.

Stephen cooked and catered for all, meeting the variety of tastes with an excellent selection of foods.

Finally, on the last day, he organised a cookery competition which was greatly enjoyed by all and Stephen's humour and gentle nature contributed greatly to the success of the evening.

For all of this and for more, I would greatly recommend Stephen's culinary skills to anyone.
